Make your own painting in any media. Plan, sketch, and draw it out first, before applying any paint. Make it your best work.
You get to choose the subject matter, but you need to try to imitate one of the following styles:
  • Everyday people doing everyday things like Raphael Soyer
  • Sleek and modern yet lonely like Edward Hopper
  • Exaggerated and cartoonish, yet caring like Ben Shahn
  • Rough and sketchy like Reginald Marsh
  • Swirling and windy farm life like Thomas Hart Benton
  • Smooth and solid, & IOWA PROUD like Grant Wood, or
  • Rugged and Redneck like John Steuart Curry
